Kalanihale was established in this rural fishing village of MIloliʻi, South Kona as a response to the needs of our community. The youth of Miloliʻi was not easily afforded access to high quality education programs and opportunities by which could stimulate their growth in self confidence & identity, and overall health and well-being.
The foundational support that makes up Kalanihale has been conducting youth programs and community projects for the past 30 years, well before Kalanihale was formally established in 2013.
Na ke kaiāulu ka hānai keiki
Today, Kalanihale continues to pivot when necessary, create new services and programs, while servicing the needs of our home and our people. We do all this while keeping our keiki at the forefront to being beneficiaries of our hana. We strive to prepare our next leaders for the challenges of tomorrow, just as our kūpuna have pepared us.
Our mission is to improve the educational, environmental, and cultural well-being of our community.
Our vision is for Miloliʻi snd South Kona to be a thriving Hawaiian fishing community with a healthy environment of abundant marine resources and successful families that have a strong sense of place and identity, pride in their Hawaiian culture, and a healthy quality of life socially, economically, and culturally.
Our work speaks for itself – it is a reflection of who we are and what we are. For tomorrow, we envision a better Hawaii – a vibrant place that is abundant, healthy and thriving! We commit to that vision, our people, and our ʻāina.
To improve the educational, environmental, and cultural well-being of community members of Milolii and South Kona.
